Football is one of the most popular sports in Switzerland. The ASF-SFV is the Swiss Football Federation, which is the highest professional football body in the Alpine country, controlling all levels of Swiss teams.

The Swiss professional competitions are the Super League and the Challenge League. The Swiss Super League is the top division of Swiss football, consisting of 10 Swiss teams. The most successful teams are Grasshopper, Zurich, FC Basel and Servette. The Challenge League is the second division of the Swiss league system. It is made up of 10 Swiss teams, of which the champion is promoted to the Super League, and the runner-up plays playoffs against the ninth-placed team from the Super League. The remaining non-professional leagues are the Promotion League, 1.Liga and 2.

Swiss clubs are dressed by the leading brands on the market. Switzerland also hosted the 1954 World Cup and, together with Austria, Euro 2008. The Swiss national team has played in 12 World Cups and 5 European Championships, with the most notable performances being the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 and the Round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup.
